Reading Rainforest PARP Event!

MAY 3RD 2019: Today our students will enjoy a visit from the Buffalo Zoomobile to kickoff our Reading Rainforest PARP (Pick A Reading Partner) Event.  We have lots of other exciting events on our calendar throughout the month to get your students wild about reading!

Students are encouraged to read out loud to a reading partner for 15 minutes a day, 5 days a week, for three weeks. Partners can be anyone -parents, grandparents, siblings, friends, neighbors, etc.

Why is it important for your child to read out loud? "Hearing stories read aloud helps children connect the written word with speech, makes the experience of reading and storytelling enjoyable. Reading confidently out loud is a skill for anyone and developing this in children from an early age hugely benefits them later in life." (Source)

Packets will be coming home today and include a calendar and reading log. Students who turn in their completed reading log at the end of the month will receive a PARP brag tag for their back pack. We hope your student will participate in this fun program. Happy reading!
